KLS Testing & Assessment Programs
KLS Assessment Center provides a wide range of psychological testing and assessments, each led by psychologists with extensive experience and training in neuropsychological and psychological testing and interpretation. Testing services are offered at our Testing & Assessment Center.
How It Works
Intake: During this initial appointment, you will meet with your psychologist to review your expectations, what you have been experiencing, what your needs require, etc. This allows our psychologist to have a solid understanding about your testing/assessment needs. This will also be a time for you to ask questions and gain a general understanding of what the assessment process will entail.
Assessment: During the assessment stage, you will come in for one or more appointments (if needed) in which your actual test/assessment will be conducted.
Review/Results: Once your psychologist has had time to analyze your results and write any needed reports, you will come in to meet with your psychologist to review your results and talk through any next steps.

Neuropsychological Assessments:
A full neuropsychological assessment includes evaluation of cognition and intelligence, executive functioning skills, attention and concentration, motor skill development, language, learning, and memory. Each evaluation additionally includes a comprehensive psychological evaluation, focused on assessing mental health, emotional functioning, and personality development.
A neuropsychological evaluation may be indicated for individuals with the following histories:
- Medical diseases (including infections, cardiovascular difficulties, and degenerative disorders) and decreased mental functioning.
- Substance abuse, including chemical agents such as heroin, cocaine, alcohol, marijuana, hallucinogens, synthetic drugs and prescribed medications, which can impact brain functioning.
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and associated difficulties with attention and executive function.
- Learning difficulties, including specific weaknesses in academic areas.
- Neurodevelopmental delays, including Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Psychoeducational Evaluations:
Psychoeducational evaluations can be useful in the following situations:
- Academic underachievement
- Determination of eligibility for Special Education services
- Attentional deficits, with consideration of an ADHD diagnosis
- Learning issues, with determination of a specific learning disorder
- Social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties within the classroom environment
Psychoeducational Evaluations:
Given the rate of misdiagnosis for ADHD and associated consequences of medication management, the KLS Assessment Center offers an abbreviated, tailored assessment focused on screening for attention capacity, in order to confirm or deny a diagnosis of ADHD.
An ADHD assessment incorporates a psychosocial history, self-reported measures of symptoms, and direct standardized assessment of attention capacity and executive functioning. Screening measures are also included for emotional and personality functioning that can also contribute to difficulties sustaining attention.
